PUD asked to help guide water strategy
Chelan County PUD
News Release
7/11/2005
Chelan County PUD commissioners agreed Monday to be part of a regional water resources steering committee, with Commissioner Gary Montague as the Board’s representative.
The committee will be made up of regional water partners and county and community leaders who want to develop future water-use facilities and strategy.
The group will also establish a strategy for the regional aquifer, which supplies water to Chelan County PUD, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee water systems, and look at a solution for Monitor water improvements.
Monitor Community Council members attended the meeting to encourage the PUD to look at future water improvements in the Monitor area, which has problems with water quality and quantity.
In other business, commissioners:
- Authorized Norm Gutzwiler to vote on behalf of Chelan County PUD against a Washington PUDs Association building purchase at the association’s board of directors meeting on July 15. The 16,800-square-foot building would house the association’s relocated offices, and remaining portions of the building would be leased to other businesses. The approximate cost of $6.1 million would be divided between member PUDs. Chelan County PUD would pay approximately 6 percent of the building’s cost.
- Heard an update from Douglas County Commissioner Mary Hunt and Chelan County Commissioners Ron Walter from the Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board, a group made up of Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties, and the Colville and Yakama nations.
