General manager candidates evaluated
Chelan County PUD
News Release
3/13/2006
Chelan County PUD commissioners met Monday in executive session to narrow down the list of general manager applicants for further evaluation.
Consultant Jerry Oldani, hired by the PUD in December to conduct the search, has reported that he received 114 applications, including 22 from Washington, including four internal PUD applicants.
Oldani used a matrix created by commissioners to screen those applicants and provide a list for further consideration. Commissioners will discuss candidates with Oldani again on March 27.
The board hopes to hire a new general manager by mid-April.
In other business, commissioners:
- Authorized extending an agreement with Avista Energy, Spokane, for real-time surplus-power scheduling and marketing. The contract with Avista began in 1997 and this agreement extends it to May 31, 2009.
- Voted 3 to 2 for Commissioner Norm Gutzwiler to vote Friday against $350,000 in additional spending on a new building for the Washington PUDs Association. Commissioners voted against construction of the building July 11, 2005, but were in the minority within the association. The 11,500-square-foot building will house the association’s relocated offices, and remaining portions of the building will be leased to other businesses. The approximate cost of $4.2 million has been divided among member PUDs. Chelan County PUD has paid approximately 6 percent of the building’s cost.
