Chelan County PUD
News Release
5/15/2006
At today’s meeting PUD commissioners:
- Heard a review of the successful, seven-month project to replace key components of the wicket gates on Unit C-9 at Rocky Reach Dam. Wicket gates regulate the water flow into the turbine. Penny Hulbert, mechanical engineer, outlined the benefits of the team approach taken for planning and replacement of the equipment. The generating unit was back in service on April 6.
- Received an update on the training program for Generation and Distribution journeymen interested in becoming crew foremen. Journeymen with at least five years experience at the District can take part. Those who complete the training and testing are then eligible for foreman positions, based on seniority. Employees involved in the program spoke, including Brian Odell and Vance Fletcher, journeymen mechanics; Rob Mitchell, mechanic foreman; Kevin Medved, line foreman; Bob Sparks, electric operations manager; and Tom Treat, Central Maintenance manager.
- Toured the Central Maintenance shop at Rocky Reach.
