Downed trees cause Lake Wenatchee, Highway 2 power outages

Chelan County PUD
News Release
1/18/2005

Trees covered with heavy snow and ice have fallen into power lines causing outages for Chelan County PUD customers on the north shore of Lake Wenatchee, at Fish Lake and from Coles Corner to White Pine Road along Highway 2.

The first reports of outages were received about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. The outages are affecting several hundred PUD customers.

PUD crews have been in the area since early morning. Repairs have restored power to some Lake Wenatchee north shore residents, but power remains out for customers east of Crescent Beach to the end of the road. Crews are working in extremely icy conditions. Estimates are repairs could take until late morning.

At least two trees are in the line serving customers along Stevens Pass from Coles Corner to White Pine Road. Because of the remote location, PUD crews will have to use tracked vehicles to reach the damaged line. Estimates are those repairs will also take several hours.

Chelan County PUD customers are urged to call the 24-hour outage information line at
1-877-PUD-8123 (1-877-783-8123) for updates or to report a power outage.
