Chelan County PUD
News Release
1/19/2005
Chelan County PUD crews working through the night restored power to many customers at Lake Wenatchee, Fish Lake and along Highway 2 between Winton and White Pine Road.
Crews will focus Wednesday morning on restoring electric service to the Braeburn neighborhood along the Wenatchee River. They had to stop work there Tuesday night because trees coated with snow and ice continued to fall, making it unsafe to work in the dark.
Dick Bannon, Leavenworth superintendent, estimated less than 100 customers remained without power this morning. As many as 1,300 customers lost power on Tuesday at Lake Wenatchee, Fish Lake and along Highway 2 as ice-coated trees fell into power lines.
In addition to the Braeburn area, PUD crews will continue repairs on South Shore Road. Service to Kahler Glen was restored Tuesday evening. Crews will also be working at the YMCA camp on the north shore of Lake Wenatchee. At Fish Lake, service is still out at the Cove, and across the lake at the Hideway.
Customers are urged to call the 24-hour PUD outage line for updates, to report additional power outages or downed lines and if they have medical needs for power. That number is 1-877-PUD-8123 (1-877-783-8123).
