Online bill payment coming to the PUD
Chelan County PUD
News Release
5/30/2006
News from the meeting of the Chelan County Public Utility District Board of Commissioners held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006.
Online bill payment coming to the PUD
Chelan County PUD customers will soon have the option of paying their bill online, members of the Customer Service department reported Tuesday.
Calls from customers asking to pay their bill online have been increasing over the past two years, said Susan Gillin, customer services administrator.
Customers will reach a secure bill paying service offered by Bank of America from the PUD’s Web site. The service provides another payment option to customers and uses technology to improve bill processing, said Kerri Wendell, customer information system administrator.
Paying a bill online will cost the PUD about 50 cents per transaction, plus a monthly fee and a one-time setup fee. That cost will not be passed on to customers. The shift to online payments will save in other areas for the PUD, Gillin said.
The service is expected to debut with the PUD’s renovated Web site later this summer.
In other business, PUD commissioners:
- Thanked Wayne Wright for his service as interim general manager for the last six months. “He healed, he mended and he built confidence, and we’re so fortunate to have him,” said Commissioner Ann Congdon. Wright returns to his job as assistant general manager for customer and environmental services. New PUD General Manager Rich Riazzi starts work on Wednesday, May 31.
- Reviewed a proposed policy outlining who pays what costs when customers ask that overhead power and fiber lines be put underground. PUD commissioners will be asked to approve the policy next week. The proposal follows discussions with customers last year about how to handle the cost of the increasing number of requests to protect views by putting power lines underground.
- Approved changes in the contract with Pipkin Construction Inc. of East Wenatchee for construction of a septic system and drainfield at Rocky Reach Dam. Use of the system started May 1. The changes resulted in a decrease of $2,348.75, for a new contract total of $591,250.96. The new system handles waste from the Rocky Reach powerhouse, visitor center and grounds and eliminates discharge of treated water into the Columbia River.
