Ooo la la…

Photo of Ciscoe on stage.Chelan County PUD welcomed celebrity gardener Ciscoe Morris, host of KING-5 TV's “Gardening with Ciscoe,” back to the KPQ Home and Garden Show March 13. Ciscoe answered gardening questions while entertaining the crowd.

Ciscoe’s seminar was part of the Xeriscape (low-water-use gardening) program promoted by the PUD.

Here’s a Xeriscape tip: With a potential drought looming, this would be a great year to install a Xeriscape (low-water-use) garden. Once established, Xeriscape plants can cut landscape water use by up to 80 percent. Xeriscaping can mean moving a few plants around, watering according to need, or designing a whole new landscape. “Smart” PUD program helps customers save money

The PUD’s Resource$mart program helps fund energy-efficiency improvements for industrial and commercial customers. Participants are eligible for 75 percent of the cost of installing the conservation measure or three-year projected net revenue to the District (whichever is smaller). Fruit warehouses have been the primary participants in the program.

Overall, the Resource$mart program is saving the PUD about $720,000 a year, or enough energy to power about 1,300 homes.
